MY MISSION

My lifelong aspiration has been to assist individuals in their times of need. Pursuing a career as a practitioner psychologist not only fulfils this desire but also allows me to follow my passion for helping individuals grappling with psychological distress and mental health challenges.

I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with the non-profit organization “Open Closets,” where I was invited to lead a team of psychologists in a project aimed at supporting LGBT+ individuals who have experienced rejection within their families. This experience provided me with valuable opportunities to develop my leadership and human resource management skills. Moreover, I found immense satisfaction in contributing to a project that seeks to establish a robust support system for the LGBT+ community.

As a parent myself, I deeply understand the importance of offering support, particularly during the early stages of parenthood. Perinatal mental health support is gaining increasing recognition, but there is still much work to be done, both in terms of research and clinical practice. Pregnant women and mothers with young children often grapple with anxiety, depression, and birth trauma, which are frequently overlooked or misdiagnosed. Many mothers hesitate to discuss their mental health concerns with professionals due to fear of rejection and judgment.

It is this concern that motivated me to join the Juno PMHS Edinburgh team. Stigma persists around seeking help, whether through medication or counselling, for mental health issues associated with life-changing events like childbirth. I aim to use the experience I gained at Juno to provide understanding and support to other mothers. Consequently, I have developed a unique program designed to assist expectant mothers and new moms
